Beginning next month, psychiatrist Neil D. Price, MD, of Silver Hill Hospital, will debut his new call-in radio program, “New Frame of Mind.” Beginning October 1, Price will field questions from callers to radio station WICC 600AM. “The goal of this program is to give the public hope and guidance about the challenges they are facing,” Dr. Price said. “When you start to think about problems with a ‘new frame of mind,’ you will be in a better position to change the outcomes of stress and other challenges.” The doctor is in. Every Wednesday night from 8 to 9 p.m., listeners can call into the program to ask Price specific questions about everyday issues. Dr. Price will also play music that offers the message of healing. Up first, on Wednesday, Oct. 1, the topic is “depression.” The next Wednesday, Oct. 8, the topic will be “surviving relationships,” followed by “dealing with the in-laws,” on Oct. 15. The phone-in number at WICC is 203-333-WICC (9422). Dr. Price is Service Chief for Transitional Living Programs at Silver Hill Hospital. He has taught at medical schools, presented at conferences of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), and spoken at workshops for the general public. His research findings have been published widely in journals and the popular press as well as in his book, titled On the Edge: The Love/Hate World of the Borderline Personality. Psychiatry and radio His medical knowledge may seem enormous, but Price is no novice when it comes to radio, either. He previously hosted another program on Mix 103.7 FM, a family entertainment radio station based in Richmond, VA. The program, which also focused on mental health issues, was highly popular during its time on the air. “My intent is not to provide listeners actual treatment for mental health conditions,” he said. “Instead, I’ll offer callers advice that will hopefully be helpful in their everyday lives.” Price earned his medical degree from Belgium’s Free University in Brussels and completed his residency at Yale University Medical School in New Haven, CT. His expertise includes chemical dependency and adult, geriatric, adolescent, and personality disorders. He is certified as a diplomat of the American College of Psychiatry and Neurology. Founded in 1931, Silver Hill Hospital is a nationally recognized, independent, not-for-profit psychiatric hospital. It provides adult and adolescent patients with diagnosis and treatment of the full range of psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse disorders. Silver Hill is distinct in offering a full continuum of care with both inpatient treatment as well as longer-stay residential Transitional Living Programs. © Copyright by StamfordPlus.com.
