BRIDGEPORT, CT - St. Vincent’s Medical Center will host a St. Vincent’s Oncology Women’s Seminar on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 5:30pm – 8:00pm. The Symposium will take place in the Hawley Conference Center located in St. Vincent’s Elizabeth M. Pfriem SWIM Center for Cancer Care. The public is invited to enjoy an informative evening with experts in the area of hereditary risk, GI syndromes and breast and ovarian cancers. Spouses and partners are also welcome. Dinner will be served.
The Agenda for the evening includes dinner, registration and informational booths from 5:30 – 6pm. Information will be available on Oncology Rehabilitation, Nurse Navigation, Hereditary Risk Assessment and our High Risk Clinic. After a brief welcome by Cindy Czaplinski, RN, MSN, NE-BC, Vice President, Department of Oncology the lectures will take place from 6 – 8pm. Topics include: The Ethics of Genetic Testing by St. Vincent’s College Dean Susan Capasso, Ed.D, Hereditary GI Syndromes by St. Vincent’s surgeon Christine Van Cott, MD, Taking the Fear out of a Colonoscopy by St. Vincent’s gastroenterologist Julie Spivak, MD, and What is your risk for BRCA? by St. Vincent’s surgeon Anthy Demestihas, MD.
Hear a patient’s perspective on being positive for a Hereditary GI Syndrome and there will be question and answers at the end by the panel of speakers. The SWIM Cancer Boutique will be open so attendees may be able to shop with the special symposium discount.
