STAMFORD, CT - Stamford Hospital’s Bennett Cancer Center will hold its third annual survivorship symposium on Tuesday, September 20, from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m., at the Italian Center in Stamford. The topic of the symposium will be “Sexuality After Cancer,” which is especially significant for female cancer survivors who are often bombarded with different and conflicting messages about their sexuality and care during and/or following a cancer experience.

The symposium will feature three Stamford Hospital physicians and keynote speaker Judith Steinhart, EdD, who specializes in health and sexuality. Steinhart will cover how sexuality changes, ways to be sexual and how to find out what you want and talk with others about it. The agenda for the evening is as follows:

5:30 p.m. Refreshments

Vendors will include Saxon-Kent Lingerie, Arbonne International and Buckles & Bling

6:00 p.m. Introduction & Welcome

Donna-Marie Manasseh, MD, Co-director of Women’s Breast Center, Chief of Breast Surgery

6:30 p.m. Impact of Chemotherapy on Sexuality

Anne Angevine, MD, Medical Oncologist, Hematology Oncology, PC

7:00 p.m. Menopause & Sexuality

Frances Ginsburg, MD, Director of Medical Education and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility

7:30 p.m. Keynote Address

Women’s Sexuality & Cancer: Comfort, Pleasure or One More Damn Pressure?

Judith Steinhart, EdD

8:30 p.m. Q&A Panel

This program is a part of the Bennett Cancer Center’s Transitions: Choices in Recovery program, a post-treatment survivorship program for patients and families that seamlessly guides patients into a life of wellness, offering support and information along the way.

The symposium is free to cancer survivors thanks to generous support from the Connecticut Challenge and Genentech. Pre-registration is required and can be completed by calling 1.877.233 WELL (9355). For more information, log on to www.stamfordhospital.org.
