New Haven, CT - Hope After Loss, Inc.® is proud to present its 2017 Compassionate Care Award on May 17, 2017 to Dr. Richard Viscarello, an obstetrician in Stamford, CT. The Compassionate Care Award recognizes and promotes excellence in the care of families that have lost a pregnancy or infant.
Dr. Richard Viscarello is the President, Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director of Maternal Fetal Care, PC in Stamford, Connecticut. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and has been providing OB/GYN care throughout the Connecticut community and beyond for over 40 years. Having delivered more than 100 sets of triplets, 350+ sets of twins and countless singletons during his career, Dr. Viscarello is truly passionate about his work and is devoted to supporting each individual patient throughout their unique pregnancy.
Dr. Viscarello has been active in numerous professional organizations and has made significant contributions to the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. As an advocate for the health of women and infants, he has served as a member and chairman of committees supporting substance-abusing women and their children, HIV and AIDS research, child health and development, and pediatric infectious diseases.
Richard Viscarello was nominated for the award by Sloane Spanierman, mother of Jemma. She wrote, “Dr. V has been our friend, guide and angel... He is the only doctor who has offered us hope, solution and a plan. He has sat with us for countless hours and looked at our situation from every angle. We love and adore him.”
Jaclyn Carbino, mom of twins Molly and Max, wrote in her nomination letter of Dr. Viscarello, “While pregnancy loss was the hardest thing that I've ever gone through, being pregnant after a loss was the second hardest thing. I had severe anxiety on the way to every appointment. I had several small issues... But each time I walked into Dr. Viscarello's office, I felt a sense of peace because I knew I was in the best hands. No matter who was conducting my ultra-sound, I felt like I was respected, cared for, and treated with compassion. Each nurse knew my history ahead of time, which is important for a loss mom. Dr. Viscarello and his team made me feel like I was able to call them at any time, and no question was too minor to ask... Dr. Viscarello acknowledged our loss but never made us relive it…Instead, he tried to make our lives easier and valued my emotional well-being as much as my physical well-being.”
The Compassionate Care Award will be presented to Dr. Viscarello and to Megan Ryan, NNICU RN at Yale New Haven Hospital at a Gala from 6-9pm at Woodwinds, 29 School Ground Rd, Branford, CT, 06405. Dinner, beer and wine tasting, entertainment, and a silent auction will be hosted to benefit the Hope After Loss, Inc. ® programs. Tickets are available through the website www.hopeafterloss.org.
