BRIDGEPORT, CT - The New York Islanders announced today they have reassigned defenseman Marc Cantin from the Reading Royals (ECHL) to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Cantin, 22, was acquired in March by the Islanders and split his season between Reading and Providence (AHL), totaling nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 44 regular season games.

The Omemee, ON, native also appeared in one game with the Sound Tigers and did not record a point. The 6'1, 192-pound defenseman played in five playoff games with Reading and posted two assists.

The Sound Tigers close out their regular season home schedule this Sunday, April 15 when they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 3:00 p.m. on Fan Appreciation Day.
