BRIDGEPORT, CT - The New York Islanders announced today they have recalled goaltender Kevin Poulin from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and returned goaltender Anders Nilsson to the Sound Tigers.
Poulin earns his second recall of the season after completing his most impressive week as a professional. The second-year goaltender was named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week earlier today after finishing last week with a 4-0-0 record, three consecutive shutouts and a .980 save percentage. Poulin is 11-12-0 this season with a 2.72 goals against average and a .905 save percentage.
Nilsson returns to the Sound Tigers after being recalled by the Islanders on Dec. 26, and did not appear in a game during his recall. The Lulea, Sweden native shows a 5-6-1 record with the Sound Tigers this season along with a 3.16 goals against average and a .902 save percentage.
The Sound Tigers visit Manchester to take on the Monarchs this Friday, Jan. 13 before returning home for a two-game homestand this weekend. The Sound Tigers host their annual Pink Rink Night on Saturday, Jan. 14 when they welcome the Providence Bruins at 7:00 p.m., and close out the weekend on Sunday afternoon when they host the reigning Calder Cup Champion Binghamton Senators at 3:00 p.m.
