BRIDGEPORT, CT - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced Wednesday that defenseman Dallas Jackson has agreed to terms on a one-year, American Hockey League contract for the remainder of the 2012-13 season.

Jackson, 23, signed a professional tryout contract with the Sound Tigers on Dec. 29, 2012 after beginning the season with ECHL’s Gwinnett Gladiators where he posted 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) in 31 games. The 6’2, 200-pound defenseman has notched two assists in 11 games with the Sound Tigers this season.

The Edson, AB native made his Sound Tigers debut last season, appearing in three games before being released from his professional tryout contract. The third-year pro has totaled 53 points (16 goals, 37 assists) in 142 combined ECHL games with Gwinnett and Reading.

Prior to turning professional in 2010, Jackson split three seasons in the Western Hockey League between Red Deer, Regina, Prince George and Kelowna, recording 102 points (32 goals, 70 assists) in 174 games.

The Sound Tigers also announced they have released goaltender Steve Valiquette from his PTO following this past weekend’s games. Valiquette signed a PTO on Saturday and served as Kenny Reiter’s backup in two games, but did not appear in either contest.

The Sound Tigers return to action at Webster Bank Arena this Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. against the Adirondack Phantoms, followed by a clash against the in-state rival CT Whale on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit the Webster Bank Arena Click It or Ticket Box Office, call Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000 or visit
