Rob Hisey had a goal and an assist and J.P. Lavasseur made 49 saves as the Springfield Falcons defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 4-0, Sunday afternoon at the Arena at Harbor Yard. It was the first time the Sound Tigers were shutout at home this year as they fell to 24-23-3-6 on the season.

The Sound Tigers outshot the Falcons 49-36 in the game. Lavasseur's best saves came late in the first period when he sprawled out to make back-to-back diving stops on shots by Trevor Smith and Ryan Kinasewich. Moments later, in the opening seconds of a Sound Tigers power-play, Lavasseur made another diving stop on a shot by Mark Wotton. In the third period, Lavasseur made an excellent pad save on a shot from the slot by Mark Flood. Nathan Lawson stopped 32 shots for Bridgeport.

Hisey scored the only goal of the first period with 5:36 left in the frame. After Lawson stopped shots by Taylor Chorney and Colton Fretter, Hisey finally picked up a loose rebound and lifted it into the net for his seventh goal of the year.

Early in the second period, Hisey sent a pass from behind the net to Johan Motin. Motin fired a shot from the blue-line that Viacheslav Trukhno re-directed from the side of the net past Lawson to tally his ninth goal of the year and give the Falcons a two goal lead.

Chris McDonald made it 3-0 Springfield 5:49 into the third period. Dean Arsene ripped a shot from the point that McDonald deflected past Lawson to tally his ninth goal of the year. Charles Linglet capped the scoring with 2:35 left in the game, one-timing a pass from Chris Minard into the back of the net for his 14th goal of the year.

The Sound Tigers are back in action Wednesday night as they host the Lowell Devils at Harbor Yard. Face-off is set for 7:00 pm. On Saturday, Bridgeport will host the annual Youth Hockey Shootout as the Sound Tigers face the Abbotsford Heat at 7:00 pm. For tickets, please call TicketMaster at 1-800-745-3000.
