BRIDGEPORT, CT - Harbor Yard Sports and Entertainment announced today that the second-annual New Year’s Eve High School Faceoff hockey doubleheader will be played Monday, December 31 at Webster Bank Arena.

The noon game will feature Division I teams St. Joseph of Trumbull and Notre Dame of Fairfield. This year’s tournament marks the debut of Division I teams.

“The team is excited and it’s going to be a great competition,” St. Joseph Director of Athletics Jim Olayos said.

The 2:00 pm game is a rematch of last season’s Division II championship. Reigning state champion Trumbull High School will play Branford High School. Trumbull beat Branford 5-3 in the championship game.

“We have a great matchup. Both teams play a similar style. It will be a hard-fought game,” Trumbull Coach Greg Maxey said.

Tickets are $12 for both games and can be purchased at the arena’s Click It or Ticket Box Office. Pre-sale tickets will be available at each respective school for $10.

“This will be an exciting tournament filled with some of the state’s top players. Our new center-hung scoreboard and ribbon boards will give fans and the players a memorable experience,” said Howard Saffan, president of Harbor Yard Sports and Entertainment, which manages Webster Bank Arena.

Harbor Yard Sports and Entertainment is committed to high school sports in Connecticut and bringing more teams to the 10,000-seat Webster Bank Arena, the region’s largest entertainment venue. The Northeast Christmas Classic high school basketball tournament, one of the most prestigious holiday tournaments in New England, will be held at the Webster Bank Arena on December 27-28 as well.
