Providence, RI - Malte Stromwall’s late third-period goal for the Hartford Wolf Pack prevented a Zane McIntyre shutout Sunday at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center Providence, but that was the only one of 24 Wolf Pack shots to get by the Providence Bruin goaltender in a 4-1 Providence victory.

Alex Grant had a goal and an assist for the Bruins, and Jake DeBrusk, Peter Mueller and Jordan Szwarz also scored. Austin Czarnik had two assists. Chris Nell made 36 saves in the Wolf Pack net.

After a scoreless first period, the Bruins would get three goals in a second session in which they outshot the Wolf Pack by a margin of 16-7.

Providence’s DeBrusk opened the scoring at the 4:57 mark, with his 16th goal of the season. DeBrusk spun in the left-wing corner and stickhandled towards the front of the net, before putting a backhand shot along the ice past the glove side of Nell.

The Bruins then scored on their next two power plays, first at 8:35, with Ryan Graves off for cross-checking. Mueller gave Providence a two-goal edge, on a play very similar to the first goal. Czarnik fed the puck off the left boards to Mueller along the goal line, and he stepped across the middle and slid the puck past Nell’s left skate.

The third Providence goal came with 43.4 seconds left in the second, and Matt Carey off for high-sticking, and resulted from an outstanding three-way passing play. Danton Heinen sent the puck to Charlie McAvoy at the left faceoff dot, and McAvoy immediately zipped it to the opposite side of the goalmouth, where Szwarz was easily able to tap it in.

Up 3-0 going into the third period, the Bruins made it a four-goal lead at 5:56 of the third, with Grant scoring on a slap shot from the right point, assisted by Chris Porter and Wayne Simpson.

Providence was not able to pull off the shutout, though, as Stromwall would connect for his second goal of the year with 41.7 seconds left. Steven Fogarty fanned on the puck at the right side of the slot, but Stromwall found it in front and sent a roller through McIntyre’s pads.

The Wolf Pack’s next action is a home game this Friday, April 7 vs. the Springfield Thunderbirds. That is a 7:15 PM faceoff, and, as at all Friday-night Wolf Pack home games, fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs and $2 beers through the start of the second period.

Tickets for all remaining Wolf Pack 2016-17 home games are on sale now at the Agera Energy Ticket Office at the XL Center, on-line at and by phone at (877) 522-8499.
