HARTFORD, CT - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers (3-4-0-0), proud AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, scored three times in the third period on Friday and knocked off the Hartford Wolf Pack (3-4-0-1) for the second time in six days with a 5-1 victory at the XL Center.

Josh Ho-Sang (one goal, one assist) and Alan Quine (one goal) each contributed to the score sheet in their return to Bridgeport, while Travis St. Denis (one goal), Connor Jones (one goal, one assist) and Ben Holmstrom (one goal) also proved to be key factors. In addition, Michael Dal Colle notched a pair of assists and Christopher Gibson (1-3-0) earned his first win of the season with a 23-save performance between the pipes.

The Sound Tigers are now 2-0-0-0 against Hartford this season and have outscored their in-state rivals 11-4 in those games.

Ho-Sang opened the scoring just 81 seconds into the first period when he capitalized on a 2-on-1 rush during his first AHL shift of the season. Dal Colle created the chance with a lead pass to Ho-Sang, who sprung ahead and fired a snap shot off Georgiev’s right pad and in from the left wing. The second-year forward had Quine to his right but never used him on the play.

The Wolf Pack tied the game on Filip Chytil’s second goal of the season, another even-strength tally at the 10:16 mark. Neal Pionk walked the puck to the high slot and fired a shot on target that Gibson turned away, but the second-chance opportunity fell to Chytil below the left hash marks, allowing the rookie to force it home.

The Sound Tigers responded with four unanswered goals from four different players to claim a 5-1 final. St. Denis delivered the eventual game-winning tally when he received a stretch pass from Devon Toews and registered a breakaway goal with a highlight-reel move at 18:40 of the first. Behind Hartford’s defense, St. Denis went forehand to backhand and dangled past Georgiev to make it 2-1.

Jones extended Bridgeport’s lead to 3-1 at 7:48 of the third period when he skated to the right circle and wired a wrist shot past Georgiev’s glove. Mitch Vande Sompel and Parker Wotherspoon each collected a helper. Less than three minutes later, Ben Holmstrom notched a similar goal from the left side and picked up his second tally of the season. He sent a wrist shot towards the net that beat Georigev’s glove, helped by Ross Johnston’s screen in front.

Quine scored the only power-play goal of the night at 14:54 of the third period and claimed sole possession of ninth place on the Sound Tigers’ all-time goal-scoring list (51). With Ryan Sproul in the box serving a four-minute double minor for hooking and slashing, Dal Colle hit the post with a long wrist shot that caromed to Quine on the right wing, where he punched home the rebound.

The Sound Tigers finished the game 1-for-5 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill. Bridgeport also outshot Hartford 34-24, while Georgiev (0-2-1) made 29 saves in Hartford’s loss.
