The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have sent defenseman Brett Westgarth to the Worcester Sharks in exchange for future considerations. The Sound Tigers have also acquired Mike Radja from the Syracuse Crunch.

Radja was in his first season with Syracuse and had seven goals and seven assists for 14 points in 31 games. After skating in the Islanders’ rookie camp over the summer, Radja signed with TPS Turku in the Finnish Elite League and scored nine points (six goals and three assists) in 25 games. After graduating from the University of New Hampshire, Radja played in two games for the Crunch, scoring three assists in only two games. The following season, he skated for the Rockford IceHogs (AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks), where he scored 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 57 games.

Westgarth played last season with the Sharks where he scored nine points (2 goals and 7 assists) while totaling 137 penalty minutes. The year prior, Westgarth skated for the Iowa Stars, playing in 37 games and totaling five points (two goals and three assists). The 6’2, 215 pound defenseman, a native of Amhertsburg, ON, is a Princeton University graduate who skated for the Tigers from 2002-2007 where he compiled four goals and 20 assists for 24 points.

The Sound Tigers will return to the ice, Tuesday, March 2 at 7 p.m. when they take on the defending Calder Cup Champion, Hershey Bears at Arena at Harbor Yard.
