BRIDGEPORT, CT - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced Wednesday that they have signed defenseman Dustin Friesen to a professional tryout contract (PTO).
Friesen, 27, split time between the Utah Grizzlies and Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL last year before coming to the Sound Tigers late in the season. The Waldheim, SASK native played in eight games for the Sound Tigers last year and netted his first AHL goal on Mar. 27, 2010 against Hartford. A 6-0, 200-pound defenseman, Friesen has recorded two assists in 11 games with Idaho this season. Prior to making his professional debut last year, Friesen played five seasons at the University of New Brunswick.
