Stamford, CT - AmeriCares is pleased to announce Katherine Sears of Stamford, Conn., has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Global Medical Assistance and Emergency Response. In her new position, Sears will oversee the organization’s response to devastating natural and man-made disasters including its Hurricane Sandy relief program. She will also oversee a team of relief workers providing ongoing aid to a network of more than 3,000 health care facilities in dozens of countries, including the United States, where AmeriCares supports health care for the uninsured and underinsured.

Sears formerly served as the Senior Vice President of Finance and Technology for AmeriCares. She joined the organization in 2008 after spending more than 25 years in the private sector. Sears earned her Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree from Yale University.

Gary Leeds
Gary Leeds of Wilton, Conn., has been named Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance for AmeriCares. Leeds will oversee all accounting and financial operations for the nonprofit global health and disaster relief organization. He previously served as the organization’s Controller and Internal Auditor. Prior to joining AmeriCares in 2005, he spent more than 30 years working in public accounting and the private sector. Leeds graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and is a certified public accountant.
