Mayor Pavia names Lori Bailey Special Assistant to the Mayor, Humanitarian Initiatives

Mayor Michael Pavia announced recently the appointment of Lori Jane Bailey as Special Assistant to the Mayor, Humanitarian Initiatives. Bailey’s volunteer role will be to help execute the mayor’s passion to give back to the Stamford community in a consistent, long-term effort. “One of the most critical roles a mayor can play is to use the office’s influence to do good for the community. We’re blessed with a lot of commercial and personal abundance in Stamford and I’m asking Lori to help engage the community in giving because there are people in great need: we’re in a position to be helpful and we need to take a proactive approach to giving back,” Mayor Pavia said.

Bailey is a partner with Bonnie Wattles in Barn Raising Partners, LLC, a fundraising consulting firm based in Stamford. She has been an avid supporter and volunteer for many organizations; most recently, she served the Pavia 2009 campaign in its fundraising and grassroots efforts. She has been serving on the Tri-State Finance Committee for Obama since 2007 and serves on several boards of directors, including the Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens and The Long Ridge School. “I’m honored to serve Mayor Pavia’s administration in any capacity, particularly this humanitarian role,” Bailey said.

“I’m currently working on a dinner dance fundraiser for the mayor to assist the City’s Cher Haiti relief effort. (The dinner dance will be held on Saturday, March 20 at the Italian Center at 6:30PM; open to the public.) Additionally, we’re currently planning a Stamford Community Day at the Big Apple Circus scheduled for this summer in downtown Stamford,” she said. There are several additional philanthropic events on Bailey’s horizon in step with Mayor Pavia’s charge to encourage volunteerism in Stamford. “Lori’s one of the best ‘go-to’ people I’ve ever met and I’m thrilled to have her on our team. She’s an inspiration and a tireless humanitarian that the City will benefit from in many ways,” Mayor Pavia suggested.
In sync with the city’s hiring freeze and Bailey’s commitment to service, this is a volunteer position. “We’re very grateful to Lori,” Mayor Pavia said.
