STAMFORD, CT - Stamford Hospital is pleased to announce two executive staff promotions. Kathleen Silard, RN, BSN, MS, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, has also been appointed Chief Nursing Officer. To support Ms. Silard in this role, Ellen Komar, RN, BSN, MPA, has been appointed Vice President for Patient Care Services.
Since joining Stamford Hospital in 2003, Silard has led the expansion of the hospital’s ambulatory services and cardiovascular services to include open heart surgery and elective and primary angioplasty. In addition, she is spearheading the efforts to build a new first-class hospital with all private patient rooms . Prior to joining Stamford Hospital, Silard served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Patterson, New Jersey. She holds a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing from Herbert H. Lehman College and a master’s degree in health care system management from Iona College.
Komar most recently served as Executive Director of the Heart & Vascular Institute and Women’s Health and Interim Director of Nursing at Stamford Hospital. She was also responsible for the administrative launch of the Center for Integrative Medicine & Wellness. She holds an associate and bachelor’s of science degree in nursing and a master’s degree in public administration, health care from Pace University. Prior to joining Stamford Hospital, Komar served as Administrative Director of the Transplant Center of Excellence at Westchester County Medical Center.
