Stratford resident Everett G. Sussman has been named a member of the Board of Trustees for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter. Sussman, an attorney practicing in Stratford, is highly experienced in estate planning and probate administration needs. He is admitted to practice law in Connecticut and New York and is a past president of the Fairfield Bar Association.

In the early 1990’s, Sussman initially became involved with the National MS Society as a volunteer during the annual Walk MS event. By 2006, Sussman had become chair of the chapter’s government relations committee and was a delegate to the Public Policy Conference in Washington, D.C. from 2006 through 2008.

“I am a 20-year volunteer with an organization that exists to cure, treat and prevent a disabling medical condition,” he said. “During my activities in support of the cause, I have learned much from many people, including members of Congress and lobbyists, physicians and patients. I look forward to serving on the Board, continuing my service to the community and learning.”

The Connecticut Chapter honored Sussman with its 2007 Outstanding Advocacy Volunteer Award.

In addition to his volunteer work with the Connecticut Chapter, Sussman has been involved with other organizations including the Greater Bridgeport Elder Services Council, the Widowed Persons Service and the Connecticut Lifespan Respite Coalition.

Sussman is the current vice-chair of the town of Stratford’s Ethics Commission, the treasurer of The Lawyers’ Forum, a member of the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Connecticut Bar Association’s solo and small firm executive committee

“Mr. Sussman has been a valuable asset to the Connecticut Chapter for two decades,” said Lisa Gerrol, Connecticut Chapter president. “He has proven to be an effective leader for our Government Relations Committee and has taken our message to Washington, D.C. We are excited to have Mr. Sussman join our Board of Trustees and look forward to his continued dedication to finding a cure for MS.”
