This prestigious dog show will showcase more than 1,500 pre-entered purebred dogs representing more than 150 unique breeds competing in conformation, obedience and rally trials at Taylor Farm Park in East Norwalk, CT.
This show has drawn purebred dogs from all corners of the United States and Canada giving dog enthusiasts a unique opportunity to see their favorite breed up close and talk with the breeders.
Whether they are in the conformation rings or competing with their handlers in the obedience and rally rings, these fierce competitors will do their best to win the coveted Best in Show award for conformation or the High in Trial award in obedience.
Jam packed with special events, this show will delight the entire family. They include:
* 14th Annual Meet the Author Book Signing. Special this year is a book reading and illustration by the authors of The Dangerous Book for Dogs, which is a parody written from the dog’s point of view, Rex and Sparky! Dog enthusiasts come meet a prominent author lineup…:
* Patricia Albano: It's All About Teddy: The Lost Dog—She has written an amazing story that takes place along the coast of Rhode Island. Her love and compassion for animals can be felt in this story. Patricia has owned and loved animals for over thirty years and has enjoyed photographing them throughout that time. She has exhibited her photographic work at the Valley Portfolio, located in Springfield, MA.
* Mary Byrne: Only Children Hear Me: Jake is a Friend You Can Talk To—In Jakes own words, “I am a dog, but not an ordinary dog—I can talk to children but not to adults…My very special job is to help children. Many of my friends had problems they couldn't talk about with anyone else.”
* Evelyn David: Murder Takes the Cake: A Sullivan Investigations Mystery—Join Mac, Rachel, Whiskey, JJ, Edgar, and the O'Herlihy clan for a second round of murder, mayhem, and laughter in Murder Takes the Cake, the sequel to last year's hit, Murder Off the Books.
* Darlene Arden: Rover, Get Off Her Leg!; Small Dogs, Big Heart; The Angell Memorial Animal Hospital Book of Wellness & Preventive Care for Dogs; and Unbelievably Good Deals & Great Adventures— Darlene has written a behavior book with a sense of humor, written for the average pet owner, explaining the problem as well as what to do and what not to do. Small Dogs, Big Hearts is a book considered to be the bible for small dog owners. Two more books will be featured, The Angell Memorial Animal Hospital Book of Wellness and Preventive Care for Dogs and Unbelievably Good Deals and Great Adventures.
* Sue Bulanda: Scenting On the Wind, Scent Work for Hunting Dogs; Ready to Serve, Ready to Save: Strategies of Real-Life Search and Rescue Missions and God’s Creatures: A Biblical View of Animals—Susan is an animal behavior consultant and vice president of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants.
* Joy Windle: Being Borzoi & Forever Borzoi—Joy and all of the team who contributed to the success of Being Borzoi raised $1,000 for Borzoi Health in 2006; Being Borzoi won the 2007 Arthur Frederick Jones Award for Excellence given by the Purebred Alliance of Writers.
* Peggy Gaffney: The Crafty Dog Series—Peggy has created knitting designs for over 100 breeds, both AKC and rare breeds. Her pattern books are unlike the traditional knitting book because they are filled with articles, stories and photos drawn from all the activities and events that make a breed unique. She created over 25 intarsia knitting patterns, which show the dogs in action.
* Joe Garden, Janet Ginsburg, Chris Pauls, Anita Serwacki, Scott Sherman, and Emily Flake, Illustrator: The Dangerous Book for Dogs and The Devious Book for Cats—The Dangerous Book for Dogs is a parody where Rex and Sparky asks, “Isn't there more to being a dog than wearing a mini cashmere sweater and riding around in a $400 evening clutch and much more?” “The Devious Book for Cats offers today's discerning kitties words of wisdom and advice on everything they need to know….”
