Mayor Michael A. Pavia today announced that he will be speaking at Outreach to Pets in Need (OPIN) Pet Tail Video Awards, the organization’s gala outreach program to raise money for Stamford Animal Shelter. “I’m an animal lover and I really want to get behind this event because the Stamford Animal shelter is in real need,” Mayor Pavia said. All the money OPIN raises at this event will be contributed to the (Stamford Animal) Shelter for medical care, to produce adoption events and pet owner training for pets in need.

The first annual Pet Tail Video Awards to be held at 7:00 PM at the Avon Theater on Bedford St. in Stamford features short videos of pets at their best, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction and door prizes. In addition to Mayor Pavia, the evening will feature News 12 Pet Talk show hostess Lauren Collier. Tickets to the Pet Tail Video Awards cost $50. Each ticket purchased entitles the purchaser to a $25 gift certificate at the BUtterfield 8 restaurant on Bedford St. in Stamford.

OPIN is a non-profit organization dedicated to decreasing the population of homeless pets in Connecticut through medical treatment, training, public education and placement programs. More information is available at www.opinpets.org.
