Pet Animal Welfare Society of Norwalk celebrates the 50th Anniversary with a PAWS in the PARK outdoor festival at Taylor Farm Park on Saturday, October 6 (rain date October 7) from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Admission is free to all.

People adopt from PAWS from all over Fairfield and Westchester Counties. The PAWS shelter is primarily operated and supported by volunteers. A special recognition ceremony will take place at 12:30 pm at the Paws in the Park event. Volunteers from all fifty years of operation have been invited, where contact information is available. PAWS requests that any volunteers that have been involved step forward and be counted on October 6!

The event is free to all. Activities include a “Must Love Pets” Singles tent for people who want to meet other single people who love or have pets. People and pets can meet and gauge compatibility.

Other Activities include: Norwalk Animal Control’s touch-a-truck for participants to learn what their trucks look like inside and what animal control does for the community; Norwalk Police K9 Unit demonstrations; Dog Frisbee catching demonstration by Pet Playgroundz; Dog/Human exercise program - Reshape by Patrick will show you how to get fit with your dog; Dog Agility/Challenge Trail; Dog Make-overs by professional dog groomers from The Hairy Barker Inn & Spa with before and after photos; and a “wild” CATastic tent featuring adoptable cats and clicker training workshops to learn to train your cat; and a photo booth for dressing up and photographing pets and people.

Food trucks (the Melt Mobile and Jr.’s Hot Dogs) and Bliss Ice Cream (featuring dog friendly flavors) will keep people from getting hungry. And a children’s activity area featuring Doodle Rolls and Pup-Casso pet art projects will keep little hands (and paws) busy!

Dozens of exhibitors with both pet and people friendly products will fill the field for people looking to get a start on holiday shopping. Additional spaces for exhibitors are still available. All sorts of pet charities will be represented. Parking is plentiful. Participants may register online at www.pawsct.org for free and be entered for a chance to win a great prize!

Premier Sponsors include Big Dogs, The Walking Company, Canine Companies, Blue Buffalo, Choice Pet Supply and Moffly Media.
