Candidate for Lieutenant Governor, Lisa Wilson-Foley will not take a salary if elected

In an effort to trim money from the state budget, entrepreneur Lisa Wilson-Foley will not accept a salary if she is elected to the Lieutenant Governor's position. Wilson-Foley says, "The office has a $500,000 annual budget. Eliminating the $110,000 salary, plus a full-time State Trooper driver and car and one staff position will trim the Lieutenant Governor's office budget by nearly 50%.

Wilson-Foley also wants accountability like she has in her businesses that employ 500 people. After two years of the four -year term, Wilson-Foley will evaluate the need for the office. If she feels there is no value to taxpayers, she will spend the remaining two years of her term, working to eliminate the position.

Wilson-Foley thinks if she can trim 50% from the Lieutenant Governor's budget, all state commissioners and other office holders should be able to slash their budgets by 10 -15%. If that happens, Connecticut's state leaders will be showing their investment in reining in the state budget. "Families around Connecticut have had to tighten their budget belts during this economic downturn, state agencies should have to do the same." says Wilson-Foley.
