Essex, CT - Republican Congressional candidate Janet Peckinpaugh is pleased to announce her endorsement by the Log Cabin Republicans of Connecticut, the state chapter of the national Log Cabin Republicans, which is one of America's most respected gay and lesbian rights organizations.
"I'm pleased to have the support of the Log Cabin Republicans," said Janet Peckinpaugh upon learning of the endorsement. "I’m a staunch supporter of equal rights for all Americans and look forward to continuing my support as a member of Congress."
Peckinpaugh's support for gay and lesbian rights includes her support for a repeal of the military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT) policy as well as a repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
In addition, she also supports joint-filing status for all married couples with the Internal Revenue Service, rigorous enforcement of employment nondiscrimination laws, and she supports hate crimes legislation to impose additional penalties on criminals whose motivations are found to be based on sexuality.
"America is a big and diverse nation," concluded Peckinpaugh. "As your Representative in Congress, I will be committed to strong, independent leadership that isn’t beholden to partisan politics."
