Essex, CT - In a poll conducted of 300 likely Republican voters in the upcoming Congressional primary, Janet Peckinpaugh beats Daria Novak by a 3-1 margin and Doug Dubitsky by more than 4-1. When asked which candidate has the best chance of beating Joe Courtney, Peckinpaugh bests Novak by almost 4-1 and Dubitsky by 6-1.
"The Republicans in the 2nd District are hungry for a candidate who can beat Joe Courtney and return common sense to Washington", said Peckinpaugh. "Our campaign has been out talking to Republicans throughout the District and it is clear that my message of controlling government spending, cutting taxes for small business and individuals, creating jobs and imposing term limits on members of Congress is resonating with the voters".
The poll showed that, among Republicans, the most important issue in the 2nd District is turning the economy around, with 41% of those surveying saying the economy is the most important issue to them, followed by almost 23% of the people saying that controlling government spending is the most important issue.
"We know that without a vibrant economy, we cannot create good paying jobs, and that the multi trillion dollar deficits that Joe Courtney and Barak Obama have forced upon the American public, is keeping our economy from turning around" Peckinpaugh said. "We simply can't afford another 2 years of Joe Courtney's insatiable appetite for spending our money".
The poll of 300 likely Republican voters was conducted via telephone on July 13-14, 2010. The poll was conducted by Brooklawn Strategies with the calls being placed by Western Wats at random to Registered Republicans in the 2nd Congressional District. The poll is statistically accurate within 5.4%.
