STAMFORD, CT - Stamford Mayor Michael Pavia has endorsed Chris Meek for Congress in the 4th District.

"As Mayor of Stamford, I have gotten to know Chris Meek as a businessman, leader and community volunteer. Few have worked harder to help people in our community get back on their feet during these difficult times," Mayor Pavia said. "I have seen firsthand the hard work and dedication Chris has put in to help families in Stamford avoid foreclosure, find jobs that pay well and get their lives back on track during these tough times. Congress needs more leaders like Chris Meek who are willing to roll up their sleeves and find solutions, not just talk about it. I am proud to endorse Stamford’s own Chris Meek for Congress."

Meek, and his wife, Christine, live in Stamford with their children, are excited to have Mayor Pavia’s support.

"Securing the endorsement of Mayor Pavia means a lot to me. Mayor Pavia has demonstrated by example that the best way to govern is when all are included," Meek said. "This endorsement sends a clear message to the constituents of the 4th District that I have a proven track record working in our neighborhoods for the betterment of our towns. I am happy to be branded with the reputation of being the only candidate in the race to have had successful careers in the business world and in our community."

Mayor Pavia’s endorsement joins a growing list of prominent people supporting Chris Meek in his bid to become the 4th District's congressman. Already supporting Meek are former Lieutenant Governor Mike Fedele, State Representative Terrie Wood (R-141), State Representative Livvy Floren (R-149), State Representative Mike Molgano (R-146), Assistant Republican Leader in the Connecticut House of Representatives DebraLee Hoovey (R-112), Greenwich Selectman David N. Theis, Stamford Republican Town Committee Chairman Jerry Pia and the Stamford Police Union.
