Dan Malloy, the Democratic Party’s endorsed candidate for Governor, today received the endorsement of State Sen. Paul Doyle (D-Wethersfield). In making his endorsement, Doyle referenced Malloy’s 14 years as Mayor of Stamford, where he said Malloy had “a strong record of building consensus and taking on tough issues.”
“Connecticut is facing big problems – it needs a leader who is prepared on day one to start making the tough decisions, and getting Connecticut back on track,” said Doyle. “I’ve known Dan for a number of years, and I’ve watched as he helped revitalize the City of Stamford. Whether it was lowering crime, building affordable housing, investing in transportation, or going out and actively competing to bring new jobs into the city, Dan knows how to communicate his vision, bring people on board, and then make real progress together.”
Malloy thanked Doyle for his support, and said that as Governor he looks forward to partnering with the State Legislature and its leadership.
Said Malloy, “I’m honored to have Sen. Doyle’s support. From working with our Democratic State Central Committee, to serving in the State House of Representative and now the State Senate, Paul has shown himself to be a selfless and dedicated public servant. As Governor I look forward to working with him and the rest of the General Assembly, and to treating them as a partner in our efforts to rebuild Connecticut – an approach that has been sorely lacking under recent Governors.”
Paul Doyle is serving his second term representing the 9th District. He represents the residents and towns of Cromwell, Middletown, Newington, Rocky Hill, and Wethersfield, and currently serves as Senate Chair of the Human Services Committee. He is also vice-chair of the Housing Committee and serves on the Judiciary and Regulations Review Committees.
In recent weeks Malloy and his running mate State Comptroller Nancy Wyman have travelled the state discussing how they will tackle the major issues facing Connecticut, including jobs, health care, energy, education and the environment.
