The Canaiden Online Media Network reported that traffic peaked over 350% above the average during the weekend of hurricane Irene’s arrival in Connecticut as the network established a dedicated storm headquarters page and provided continuous updates of the news around the event.

Just before and during the storm, Canaiden enhanced the home pages of its local news website portfolio to highlight the storm’s path as well as deliver news related to the event.

“As a multimedia company devoted to servicing the media needs of our communities, we are extremely proud to have been able to keep our readers informed in this difficult for everyone time,” said Naiden Stoyanov, publisher of the network.

It appears that no other major local network, tracked directly QuantCast had a larger percentage increase in the visitorship during the storm’s weekend.

QuantCast is an industry standard tracking service which monitors web activity directly if enabled by each specific network’s webmaster. Many local news sites in Connecticut allow direct tracking and information is available to the public at www.quantcast.com

The Canaiden Online Media Network consists of a number of local news and other websites including StamfordPlus.com, NorwalkPlus.com, ConnecticutPlus.com, ShorelinePlus.com, Weahterinct.com and others.

In addition to the Canaiden Online Media Network, the media portfolio of Canaiden LLC, established in 2005, includes Stamford Plus magazine, Norwalk Plus magazine, Stamford Plus On Demand and others.
