Stamford, CT - William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty announced on Thursday that the firm’s listing at 165 Davenport Farm Lane West will be sold through auction by Accelerated Marketing Group on December 17, 2016 at 12 PM. Located in North Stamford, Conn., the residence is assessed by the city at over $2.3 million. The current owners have committed to selling the historic residence to the highest bidder at or above $1.4 million. Stamford agents June Rosenthal and Linda Sentementes represent the property.
After serving as a locally recognized cattle farm known as Davenport Farm in 1721, the property became home to the Calhouns, a family with traditional Scottish roots. As host to the Highland Scottish Games for many years, the property gained recognition as one of Stamford’s most well-known estates, and held this traditional Scottish celebration every spring and summer to honor and appreciate the Celtic culture.
Now sited on 2.58 acres of its original 68 acres of land, the residence offers a renovation that maintains various original features and antique details. The Colonial-style stone farmhouse includes six bedrooms and five full and two half baths in its 10,020 square-foot main house, which was redone in 1998 to incorporate exquisite modern luxuries and conveniences. An expansive kitchen, two-room guest suite, outdoor swimming pool, porte-cochere with large stone fireplace, four-car garage and a half moon driveway are just a few of the home’s standout features.
“A year ago, the residence was listed for $2.75 million,” said Rosenthal and Sentementes in a statement. “Now it’s going up for auction with a starting bid of $1 million—an anomaly in our marketplace. Such a beautiful home with a rich historic past, this is hands down, what we believe to be the best buy in all of North Stamford.”
The current owners now live permanently in Florida, and have chosen to auction the property as a result of their inability to utilize the country estate on a more routine basis.
Qualified buyers may tour the property each Saturday and Sunday from 1-3 p.m., beginning November 19th and up until the auction date, with the exception of the weekend after Thanksgiving.
