WETHERSFIELD, CT - Department of Motor Vehicles' offices statewide will be closed Friday and officials will determine after storm hits whether to open offices on Saturday for the usual morning hours.

Customers with cancelled road test appointments or Cheshire office learner's permit tests can reschedule by calling the DMV Phone Center when offices reopen.

For information regarding DMV operations, please visit ct.gov/dmv. The DMV Phone Center can be reached at 860-263-5700 (within Hartford area or outside of Connecticut) and 800-842-8222 (elsewhere in Connecticut).

Through the website and phone center pre-recorded information, customers can find specific details 24 hours a day on a non-driver identification, change of address and change of name. In addition, they have details regarding vehicle tax questions, records information, forms, emissions, inspections, operator’s licenses, titles and registrations and directions to DMV branch offices and photo license centers. They also supply details on boating registrations, commercial vehicle safety, and instructions on how to file a complaint against a dealer or repairer.

Customers seeking an emissions test should check today and tomorrow on which test stations are open and continuing testing. A list of test stations can be found at ctemissions.com

Customers with cancelled road test appointments or Cheshire office learner's permit tests can reschedule by calling the DMV Phone Center when offices reopen. DMV will provide further information as conditions arise regarding additional customer service issues.

Passenger car drivers need to remember to scrape off the heavy amounts of snow and ice before traveling or face a possible $75 fine for having a car on the road loaded down with these icy elements.
This state law, which aims to prevent safety risks from these blowing winter hazards, pertains to passenger cars and other non-commercial vehicles. Fines can increase up to $1,000 for drivers who operate these vehicles when flying snow or ice off them causes personal injury or property damage.
