Norwalk Mayor Richard Moccia ended Monday the snow emergency in Norwalk that was declared Friday, February 7.
The Snow Emergency required residents to remove vehicles from all snow emergency routes in order to facilitate snow plowing and access to those roadways by emergency vehcilces.
Mayor Moccia commended Norwalk residents for their compliance with the Emergency Declaration and their patience as Department of Public Works crews cleared Norwalk Streets.
Mayor Moccia said, “Our citizens acted in accordance with the Emergency declaration which allowed our crews to move as rapidly as possible to open streets. High winds and deep snow produced a very difficult scenario that was handled as quickly and completely as anyone could possibly have expected.” Mayor Moccia also commended the City Emergency Management Team for its work during the storm. “We have endured far more emergency situations than history would have predicted, yet our workers and team leaders demonstrated professionalism, resilience and stamina during the storm. Many worked with hardly any rest throughout the weekend. I appreciate their dedication.”
