The Westport Arts Center (WAC) announces its summer camp line-up for Summer 2014. With 10 camps in the mornings and afternoons for ages 4 to 12 there will be something for everyone this summer at WAC. From June to August, children can get creative in camps that will have them exploring new materials, techniques, and styles. Campers will make art inspired by the beach, animals, and world cultures. WAC has brought back many of its most popular camps, including LEGO Art and Experimental Materials, each with all new projects. New camps have also been added. During the Beach Bum summer camp, children will create projects inspired by the beach. American Art, a camp the week of July 4th, will focus on popular American artists. Jump stART, for children ages 4-5, will encourage artistic growth and enhance fine motor skills.

Summer camps will be lead by Education Managers Lindsay Heffernan and Sarah Kelly. Lindsay Heffernan received a BFA in Art History from Savannah College of Art and Design and an MA in Art History from Hunter College (thesis pending). She joined the Westport Arts Center as Education Manager in January of 2014 after working as the Director of Education and Development Associate at The Barnum Museum. Sarah Kelly received a B.S. in Art Education at Southern Connecticut State University. She is experienced in many mediums, and enjoys experimenting with new materials. Sarah teaches after-school art programs, leads school-group visits, weekend and vacation workshops, and Family Art Days for the Westport Arts Center.

"Summer camp is always an exciting season at the Arts Center," said Sarah Kelly. "It's wonderful to see the students so enthusiastic about learning new art techniques, experimenting with fun materials, making friends, and creating great memories in the education studio."
