Daisy_the_Pig_091308__4_.jpg
Kids will be growing their love of reading with Wilton Library’s “Plant the Seed and Read!” summer reading program which kicks off on Thursday, June 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Ambler Farm (257 Hurlbutt Street, Wilton). “The farm is a great place to hold our kick off,” said Andrea Falkner, Head of the Children’s Library at Wilton Library. “Given the theme of this year’s summer reading program, what better place is there to see things grow and thrive than on a farm? Children will be able to register for the program, go on hayrides, visit the animals, and tour the garden,” continued Ms. Falkner. Another delight according to Ms. Falkner is learning about the library’s involvement with the Heifer International program. For each book read by a child who has registered for the summer reading program, the library will donate funds to Heifer International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending hunger and poverty and caring for the Earth.
